it is a very sad & heart sinking news of my dear most humble, dedicated , a true hockey lover, a sports promoter and a dedicated worker for the sociyety who lived & sacrified his life for them.
I know Basu da since 1970 when he formed a Umpier association in kolkatta to promote hockey. Under his leadership the Asso. arranged Blood donation camp plenty of times. Basu da had invited Me and other great hockey players like Olympians Inam ur Rehman, V. Bhaskaran 1980 oly. Gold medalist. Oly. Charles cornelius, oly. Zafar iqbal, oly. Chetri, Abdul Aziz and many other hockey players for encoureging Hockey among the young players of Bengal.
By his great efforts a stetue of major Dhyan chand could taken place in kolkatta. His love for hockey was very very high therefore under his Leadership a procession including myself had a march including all the hockey lovers at Maidan, demanding ASTRO TURF to be sanctioned by the sports min. Of Bengal. Basu da was having great love & affection for me. I owe to him throughout my life.
I have lost a lovable friend I cannot forget him. I remember,Twice I stayed in his house where their family showered their hospitality on me. I cannot forget Basu da, Basu da will remain in my heart. OM SHAANTI.
